The Hadith of Jesus’ resemblance to Urwa (r.a) is weak?

A certain Ahmadiyya website went as far as lying about two narrators in Sahih Muslim in a dire attempt to prove that the second coming of Jesus is a different person.

The first point regarding two supposedly different descriptions of the Messiah as mentioned in Hadith literature is refuted indubitably Here.

Next, the Ahmadiyya website criticizes one narrator for each of the two narrations in Sahih Muslim regarding Jesus’ resemblance to the Companion Urwa bin Masu’d (R.A) and mentions “Bukhari is the greatest book, any Hadith contradicting it is useless”.

Lets see the two relevant parts of the narrations and their isnaad (chain of narrators):

1)     First Hadith is as follows:

Qutayba bin Saieed-Layth-Muhammad bin Rumh-al Layth-Abu Zubair-Jabir-Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:
There appeared before me the Prophets…and I saw Jesus son of Mary (AS) and I saw nearest in resemblance to him was Urwa bin Mas’ud…

- [Sahih Muslim: Hadith No. 167].

The Ahmadiyya website claimed that the Abu Zubair that is found in this chain is Abu Zubair Muhammadun Musrik Maki and said that this person is not trust-able, the Ahmadiyya website added stuff, lied etc. according to “Asmaul Rijal”. However, this is not the Abu Zubair that is in the chain, it is Muhammad bin Muslim bin Tadras. Not only this, he is part of four Hadith chains found in Sahih al-Bukhari and narrated three of them from Jabir ibn Abdullah as well (same as Sahih Muslim Hadith), which is enough to prove his trustworthiness. See this

 2)      Second Hadith is as follows:

Ubaidullah ibn Mua’dh al Anbari-Abi (from his father)-Sha’ba-Nu’man ibn Saalim-Ya’qub ibn Aasim ibn Urwa ibn Mas’ud al Thaqafi-Abdullah ibn Amr-Messenger of Allah (PBUH)…And Allah would then send Jesus son of Mary who would resemble 'Urwa b Mas'ud...
- [Sahih Muslim: Hadith No. 2940a]

The Ahmadiyya website says that the chain has Ubaidullah ibn Mu’adh al-Amri and says that he is not an Alim of Hadith and he is nothing as per “Asmaul Rijal”. Firstly, the person Ahmadiyya website said is not in this chain, rather it is Ubaidullah ibn Mu’adh al-Anbari. Secondly, he is found four times as well in Sahih al-Bukhari and all four times he narrated from his father as found in this Hadith as well, which is enough to prove his trustworthiness. See this

To make matter worse for the Ahmadis (Qadianis), there is also another Hadith in Sahih Muslim regarding Jesus’ resemblance to Urwa bin Mas’ud (RA):

Zuhair ibn Harb-Hujain ibn al Muthani-Abdul Aziz (ibn Abi Salama)-Abdullah ibn Fadl-Abi Salama bin Abdurrahman-Abu Huraira-Messenger of Allah (PBUH): …I saw Jesus son of Mary (AS) offering prayer, of all of the men he had the closest resemblance to 'Urwa bin Masu'd al-Thaqafi...
- [Sahih Muslim: Hadith No. 172]

Summary:

  1. Ahmadiyya website lied about the first Hadith when it said Abu Zubair Muhammadun Musrik Maki is in the chain when he is not.

  2. Ahmadiyya website lied about the second Hadith when he said Ubaidullah ibn Mu’adh al-Amri is in the chain when he is not.

  3. Both narrators that are in the chain of both Hadith are found four times in Sahih al-Bukhari.

  4. A third Hadith in Sahih Muslim adds more strength to the fact that the second coming of Jesus will be the same person.

  5. These narrations are evidence against the Ahmadis and prove the fact that the same Jesus will come again.

And Allah knows Best.

May Allah guide Ahmadis to the right path. Aameen.
