Struggling to put the correct foot in his shoes:



Transliteration:
"Aik dafa koi shakhs aap ke liye gurgabi le aaya. Aap ne pehn li magar iss ke liye seedhay paon ka aap ko pata nahi lagta tha, kai dafa ulti pehn letay they aur phir takleef hoti thi, baaz dafa aap ko ulta paon par jata tou tang ho kar farmatey in ki koi cheez bhi achi nahi hai. Walida sahiba ne farmaya ke mein ne aap ki sahulat ke wastey ultey seedhay paon ki shanakhat ke liye nishan laga diye they magar bawajood iss ke aap ulta seedha pehn letay they iss liye aap ne usay uthar diya."

Translation: 

"On an occasion, someone brought a gurgabi (a type of footwear worn in punjab) for him (Ghulam-Ahmad). He put them on but could not differentiate between the right and left shoe. Often, he used to wear them on the wrong foot and then feel discomfort. Sometimes, feeling pain from walking in the wrong shoe, he would get irritated and say 'nothing of those people is good'. Mother (Nusrat Jehan) said that she had marked the right and left shoe for his convenience. Despite this, he would still wear them wrong, and due to this, he stopped wearing them." 


His shoe troubles further continued:



"Aaj se saath (60) saal paishtar aam tor par shurafa ke larkey baaz bari bari riyasato mein apnay taat ke sath chaltey jatey aur waha barey barey ohdey hasil kar letey. Janab Mirza Ghulam Murtaza sahab marhoom Riyasat-e-Kashmir mein aik mu'aziz ohdey par reh chukay they iss liye un ke aik baradar'zada ki tehreek par Mirza (Ghulam Ahmad) sahab aur Syed Muhammad Ali Shah sahab talash-e-rozgar ke khayal se Qadian se chaley gaye. Kala Noor ke qareeb aik naley se guzartey huway Mirza sahab ki jooti ka aik paon nikal gaya. Magar wo apney rang mein aisay mustaghraq aur mahu they ke inhein maloom bhi nahi huwa. Jab tak waha se bohot door ja kar yaad nahi karaya gaya. Aakhir Jammu pohonchay waha aap ka kaam ba'juz Quran Shareef ki Tilawat aur Nimaz ki pabandi ke aur kuch na tha, wahan in umoor mein munhamik rehtey. Chand rooz ke baad aik rishtedar wahan pohoncha aur sab ko wapas le aaya."

Translation:

"60 years ago, the sons of honorable people (shurafa) would walk around big states with pride, and they used to serve there on high ranks/offices. The late Mirza Ghulam Murtaza (the father of Ghulam-Ahmad) had served on a high rank/office in the state of Kashmir. Upon the insistence of the brother, Mirza Sahab (Mirza Ghulam) and Syed Muhammad Ali Shah left Qadian in search of employment. Whilst passing a sewer (naali) close to Kala Noor, Mirza Sahab lost one of his shoes, but he was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't even notice, until he was notified when they had reached quite a distance from there. Finally, they arrived in Jammu, there his daily routine was the recitation of Quran and keeping up with his prayers, he was busy in these affairs. After a few days a relative arrived and brought all of them back (to Qadian)."

And the shoe troubles did not quite end there:



"Jin dino aap baaz dusrey ashkhas ki tehreek par jammu ki taraf tashreef le kar gaye hain rastey mein jutey ke gum honay ka waqia to pehley bayan ho chuka hai. In dino aik martaba aap ka juta ajeeb tarz se gum huwa jo aik lateefa se kam nahi. Aur dar'asal aap ke Isteraq'Ilallah ki aik misaal hai. "Sardi ka mousam tha aap ne chamrey ke mouzay pehney huway they jin ko iss mulk mein kukreil ki jurabein kehtey hain. Wo bajaye khud juti he ki tarha goya hoti hain. Raat ko sonay lagay tou paon se juta nikala. Aik juta tou nikal gaya aur dusra paon he mein raha. Aur iss jutey samait he thora bohot hissa raat ka jo sotey they soye rahay. Uthey to jutey ki talash huwi. Idhar udhar dekha pata nahi chalta. Aik paon moujood hai aur ye khayal he nahi aata ke paon mein reh gaya hoga. Khadim ne kaha ke shayad kutta le gaya hoga. Aur iss khayal par wo idhar udhar dekhney bhalney laga. Thori dair ke bad ittefaqan jo paon par hath laga tou maloom huwa ke oho! wo tou paon he mein phansa huwa hai aur ham khayal kartey rahay ke sirf jurab he hai. Khair khadim ko awaz di juta mil gaya, paon he mein reh gaya tha." 
Translation:
"In those days when he (Ghulam-Ahmad) headed towards Jammu. The story of him (Mirza) losing a shoe has been narrated before. In those days he lost his shoe in a strange manner which is no less than a joke. You sent Today at 16:25 And this is an example of his isteraq in Allah. It was cold and he was wearing leather socks, which in this country are called Kukriel socks. Those leather socks are like shoes. He went to sleep at night and attempted to take his shoes off. One shoe came off and the other stayed on. And with this shoe on he slept for a portion of the night which he usually slept for. When he awoke he began searching for his shoe. He looked here and there but didn't find anything. One shoe was present and he didn't even notice that it's still on the foot? A servant said maybe a dog has taken it. And with this idea he began searching here and there. After a while he coincidentally his hand felt his foot and he realized that its stuck on his foot and he assumed it was only a sock. Then the servant was called and told the shoe is found and that it was still on the foot"

A novel treatment for a fever:



"Hazrat walida sahiba yani ummul momineen atal'allaho baqa'allaha ne mujh se bayan kiya ke aik dafa Mirza Nizam-Ud-Din sahab ko sakht bukhar huwa jis ka dimagh par bhi asar tha. us waqt koi aur tabeeb yahan nahi tha. Mirza Nizam-ud-din sahab ke azizoon nein Hazrat sahab ko itla di, aap fauran wahan tashreef le gaye aur munasib elaj kiya. Elaj ye tha ke aap ne murgha ziba kr ke sar par bandha, jis ka faida ho gaya. Us waqt bahmi sakht mukhalifat thi."
Translation:
"My mother (Nusrat Jehan) narrated to me that once Mirza Nizam-ud-Deen had a strong fever which affected his brain. On that occasion, there was no other doctor around. The close relatives of Mirza Nizam-ud-Deen contacted Hazrat Sahab (Mirza Ghulam), who immediately went there to help with treatment. The treatment was that a cockerel was slaughtered and tied to his head, which had benefit. At the time there was mutual opposition (between Mirza Ghulam and Mirza Nizam-ud-Deen)."

Choking on salt:




"Bayan kiya mujh se walida sahiba ne ke aik dafa Hazrat sahab sunate they ke jab mein bacha hota tha tou aik dafa baaz bacho ne mujhay kaha ke jao ghar se meetha lao, mein ghar mein aaya aur baghair kisi se poochnay ke aik bartan mein se safaid boora apni jaibon mein bhar kar bahir le gaya aur rastey main aik mutti bhar kar mou mein daal li. Bas phir kiya tha mera dam rukh gaya aur bari takleef huwi kiyonke maloom huwa ke jisay mein ne safaid boora samajh kar jaibon mein bhara tha wo boora na tha balke pisa huwa namak tha."

Translation:

"Mother (Nusrat Jehan) narrated to me that once Hazrat Sahab (Ghulam-Ahmad) told her that there was event from his childhood when other children told him to go home and bring something sweet. I went home and without asking anyone, I stuffed some sugar in my pockets from a pot and left home. On the way, I put a fistful of the powder into my mouth. I had difficulties breathing and had great discomfort because I realized what I stuffed into my pockets assuming it was sugar, that wasn't sugar, but crushed up salt"

Changing clothes once a week:



Aik dafa Sheikh Rahmatullah sahab ne kisi ke ikhrajat ka zikr kartey huway Hazrat Maseeh Maud ki khidmat mein arz kiya ke unhein chahiye rozana aik dhoya'bouwa kurta pajama badal liya karein. Iss se ziyada apney ikhrajat ko na barhaein. Hazrat sahab (Mirza Ghulam) ne iss par farmaya ke hum tou haftey mein aik baar kaprey badaltey hain

Translation:

"Upon an occasion Sheikh Rahmatullah, whilst talking about someone's expenses, advised Promised Messiah (Mirza Ghulam Ahmad) that he should change his clothes daily, and aside from this to not increase his expenses. Hazrat Sahab (Mirza Ghulam) replied 'I change my clothes once a week."

Maid bathing in the presence of Ghulam-Ahmad:



"Hazrat Maseeh Maud ke andron'khana aik neem deewani si aurat bator khadima ke raha karti thi. Aik dafa us ne kiya harkat ki ke jis kamrey mein Hazrat sahib (Mirza Ghulam) beith kar likhney parhney ka kaam kartey they waha aik koney mein aik kura tha jis ke pass pani ke gharey rakhey they, wahan apney kaprey uthar kar nangi beith kar nahaney lag gayi. Hazrat sahab apney kaam tehreer mein masroof rahay aur kuch khayal na kiya ke wo kiya karti hain. Jab wo naha chali tou aik aur khadima ittefaqan aa nikli. Uss ne iss neem deewani ko malamat ki ke hazrat sahib ke kamrey mein aur moujudgi ke waqt tu ne ye kiya harkat ki? Tou uss ne hans kar jawab diya, Unho kuch deeka hai? yani usay kiya dikhai deta hai. Huzoor ki aadat az-e-basar ki jo wo har waqt mushahida karti thi iss ka asar us deewani aurat par bhi aisa tha ke wo khayal karti thi ke Huzoor (Mirza Ghulam) ko kuch dikhai nahi deta. Iss wastey huzoor se kisi parda ki zaroor he nahi."

Translation:

"In the house of the Promised Messiah there was a mad lady who stayed there as a maid. Upon an occasion she went to the room where the Promised Messiah was sat doing some read and writing, and in the corner of that room there were buckets full of water, she took off her clothes and sat there naked, washing herself. Hazrat sahib was busy in his work and he didn't give a thought as to what she is doing. When she finished, another maid turned up and asked 'what act have you committed in the room, and presence of the promised messiah?'. To which the mad lady laughed and responded 'did he see anything, meaning, what can he see?' The mad maid used to closely observe Huzoor's habit of living And due to this reason (she believed) there was no reason for covering from Huzoor"

Ghulam-Ahmad fooled by an Englishman:


Transliteration: 

"Tafseel iss ki ye hai ke jab hum Doraha ke station par pohonchay tou Ludhiana jaha hum ne jana tha uss jaga se das kous baqi tha. Raat taqreban 10 bajay guzar gayi thi tab mere hamra he Sheikh Abdur raheem aik angraiz se pucha ke kiya Ludhiana aa gaya? Uss ne hansi se ya kisi aur gharaz se kaha ke aa gaya. Aur hum iss baat ke sunnay se sab ke sab rail par se uthar aaye. Aur jab hum uthar chukay aur rail rawana ho gayi tab hamein pata laga ke ye Doraha hai Ludhiana nahi hai. Aur wo aisi jaga thi ke baithney ke liye bhi charpai nahi milti thi aur na khanay ke liye roti."

Translation:

"The story is that when we reached Doraha station, we were 10 kos away from Ludiana, which is where we were headed. It was 10pm when Sheikh Abdur Raheem asked an Englishman if this was Ludhiana. He replied 'Yes', either he was joking, or had some other motive. After hearing this we all got off of the train. After getting off and the train departing the station, we learned that this is Doraha and not Ludhiana. This was such a place that there wasn't even a bench to sit on, or food to eat"

Toilet changed into a room for Mirza Ghulam:


Transliteration: 

"Hazrat Maseeh Maud ki aadat thi ke din mein kisi aik waqt aik ya do gantey ke wastey sab se bilkul alehda ho jatey they. Gordaspur mein jis makan mein hum sab manzil kiye huway they. Us waqt ki zameen ki manzil par darwaza se dakhil hotey huway baein taraf aik chota sa kamra tha jo pakhana ke liye istemal hota tha. Magar pakhana ke wastey kothey ke uper aur jaghein bhi thi. Pas uss neechay walay kamrey ko Huzoor (Mirza Ghulam) ne saaf karaya. Usay khoob dhoya gaya. Aur uss mein farsh kiya gaya. Aur dopeher ke waqt do ya teen gante ke qareeb Huzoor bilkul alehda andaz se kundi laga kar uss mein bethey rehtay they."

Translation:

"The promised Messiah had a daily habit of going into seclusion for an hour or two. In Gurdaspur, the house where we were residing in, on the left side from its ground-floor entrance, there was a small room which was used as a toilet, but there were also other places on the upper floor being used as toilets. Therefore, Huzoor ordered us to clean that room. (We) thoroughly cleaned it, and the floor was cemented. Huzoor used to stay there in the afternoon for approximately 2 to 3 hours completely secluded, locking the door from inside."

Eating Dust:


Transliteration: 

"Bayan kiya mujh se walida sahiba ne ke baaz borhi aurton ne mujh se bayan kiya ke aik dafa bachpan mein Hazrat Sahib (Ghulam-Ahmad) ne apni walida se roti ke sath kuch khanay ko manga, unho ne koi cheez shayad gurr bataya ke ye le lo. Hazrat (Mirza Ghulam) ne kaha nahi. Ye mein nahi leta unhon ne koi aur cheez batai. Hazrat sahib ne iss par bhi wahi jawab diya. Wo uss waqt kisi baat par chiri huwi bethi thi. Sakhti se kehnay lagay ke jao phir rakh se roti kha lo. Hazrat sahab roti par rakh daal kar beith gaye aur Ghar mein aik lateefa ho gaya. Ye Hazrat sahab ke bilkul bachpan ka waqia hai. Khaksar arz karta hai ke walida sahiba ne ye waqia suna kar kaha ke jis waqt uss aurat ne mujhay ye baat sunai thi uss waqt Hazrat Sahab bhi pass they. Magar aap khamosh rahay."

Translation:

"Mother (Nusrat Jehan) narrated to me that an old women told her that in childhood, Hazrat Sahib (Mirza Ghulam Ahmad) had asked his mother for something to eat with his chappati. She gave him something, maybe jaggery. Hazrat replied 'No, I don't want it', so she then offered something else, to which he offered the same reply. At this moment she was angry at something and she angrily told him 'then go eat it with dust'. Hazrat Sahab then put dust on his chapatti and began eating it. This became a joke within the house. This is an event from the childhood of Hazrat. When mother narrated this to us, she told us Hazrat Sahab was present when the lady told the story but he remained silent."

Wearing Gharara:

Transliteration: 

"Aakhiri aiyaam mein Huzoor (Mirza Ghulam) hamesha aisay pajamay pehna kartey they. Jo neechay se tang uper se khulay gaom tarz ke aur shar'i kehlatey hain. Lekin shuru mein 1890-95 mein mein ne Huzoor ko baaz dafa gharara pehnay huway bhi dekha hai."

Translation:

In the final days Huzoor (Mirza Ghulam) would always wear the type of pyjamas which were tight from the bottom and loose from the top, these were called 'shar'i. But in the beginning, from 1890-95, I had seen Huzoor wear a gharara on many occasions"

Pouring Hot water on his maid's hands:


Transliteration:

"Mere ghar se yani walida Aziz Muzaffar Ahmad ne mujh se bayan kiya ke Hazrat Maseeh Maud amuman garam pani se taharat farmaya kartey they aur thanday pani ko istemal na kartey they. Aik din aap ne kisi khadima se farmaya ke aap ke liye pa'khana mein lota rakh dey. Uss ne ghalti se taiz garam pani ka lota rakh diya. Jab Hazrat Maseeh Maud farigh ho kar bahar tashreef laye tou daryaft farmaya ke lota kis ne rakha tha? Jab bataya gaya ke fala khadima ne rakha tha tou aap ne usay bhulwaya aur ussay apnay hath aagay karney ko kaha. Aur phir uss ke hath par aap ne uss lotay ka bacha huwa pani baha diya ta ke usay ihsas ho ke ye pani itna garam hai ke taharat mein istemal nahi ho sakta. Iss ke siwa aap ne usay kuch nahi kaha."

Translation:

"Mother of Aziz Muzaffar Ahmad narrated that Hadrat Maseeh Maud (Mirza Ghulam Qadiani) usually used warm water in order to clean himself in the toilet and did not use cool water. One day Mirza Ghulam Qadiani was going to toilet for call of nature so he ordered one of the maid to put water in the vessel and take it to the toilet. The maid mistakenly put very hot water in the vessel. When Mirza Ghulam Qadiani came out of the toilet he asked who brought the vessel in the toilet? When Mirza Ghulam Qadiani was informed that a certain maid had kept it, he told the servant to extend her hands. Then he poured all the remaining Hot Water on her hands so that she could realize that such hot water could not be used for cleaning (the faeces). He did not say anything else to her (after pouring hot water on her hands)."
